Hobbes's political thought provokes a perennial fascination. I was expecting cutting edge new views on Hobbes from a legal perspective (his first and last books were on law and he was not trained in law). Nothing really earth shattering or new, and not most did not read like they were from a legal perspective - it is usually philosophers or political science people commenting on Hobbes and the law without any background in law informing their views, I was hoping for eminent law qualified experts commentating on Hobbes from a legal perspective - which was not strong. Though the essay with no academic references, which implies that all the ideas were original, was an interesting read The book was a bit of a yawn.
