For me, this book does not work.

First off, this book is very repetitive. The author keep repeating an explaining what he has already pointed out before.

The book is advertised as: "Presents its ideas from a vendor-neutral perspective that can benefit any organization". That is certainly correct. However, the lack of any vendor-specific technical detail condemns the book to being very abstract. That makes it less readable.

The author should have chosen a different approach. For example, he should have used anecdotes about what goes wrong. Then, he could have generalized from these anecdotes to his theory.

Sadly, the author has chosen to simply sum up his Theory of Database Archiving. That theory, by the way, is little more than stating the obvious ...
