The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler, Volume 10: Case Readings and Demonstrations

Product Description
Alfred Adler had the remarkable ability to make immediate contact with troubled chldren and adults as well as offer them practical, creative therapeutic guidance. This skill, as well as his vigorous optimism about human nature, is amply illustrated in the two books included in this volume: "The Problem Child," and "The Pattern of Life."The Collected Clinical Works of Alfred Adler, Volume 10: Case Readings and Demonstrations Review
Alfred Adler has an uncanny ability to express ideas in simple way using simple language. His idea of unity of mind instead of components like "ego", "superego" and emphasis on understanding the uniqueness of individual rather than attributing everything to sexual drive or conditioning is much more honoring of human nature. While this book is easy to follow I would recommed to read one of "Social Interest", "Understanding Human Nature" etc for first introduction. The case studies are good way to understand the theories that he talks about and to see it applied in real situation.
I also found "Punished by rewards" as a very good book on psychology of why we do things. However this give wider perspective on motives people have.
