The Encyclopedia of Kidnappings

The Encyclopedia of Kidnappings Review
This extensive and detailed survey of kidnapping from biblical times to the present is a comprehensive reference guide to the study of kidnappers, their victims, and all matters relating to this dark crime of abduction. From the kidnapping of a single child by a depraved individual to the mass relocation drives by the Nazis, THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF KIDNAPPINGS provides a cross section of kidnappers and their victims, while exploring in detail motives and circumstances surrounding each case. In an easy-to-read A-to-Z format, and accompanied by more than 60 photographs, this Encyclopedia written by the very credible Michael Newton is an indispensable reference for the study of kidnapping crimes.I buy a lot of True Crime books, books about Criminology and Serial Killers, and I'm really happy I bought this Encyclopedia. If, like me, you have a huge passion for Criminology and you buy a lot of True Crime books then you need to add this Encyclopedia to your collection. Respected author Michael Newton, author of numerous Encyclopedia related to crime ( Unsolved Crimes, Serial Killers, Crime Scene Investigation, Gangsters, American Law Enforcement, and many more ), did a wonderful job researching the many cases featured in this volume. The 947 entries you'll find in this book include individual case histories, discussion of groups involved in multiple kidnappings, and general topics relevant to the subject such as "Prosecution of American Kidnappings", "Stockholm Syndrome", "Fiction and Film Portrayals of Kidnappings", "Slavery", "Skyjacking", and so on.
In this book you'll find hundreds of fascinating cases from all over the world. Some of these cases are legendary: The 1932 Kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh jr.; the infamous murder ( staged as a kidnapping ) of JonBenet Ramsey in 1996; the 1979 American Embassy hostage crisis; the controversial kidnapping of Patty Hearst in 1974; the Abduction of Charlie Ross in 1874, generally ranked as America's first ransom kidnapping; the Abduction and murder of 12 year old Polly Klaas in 1993; California's Bay area Abductions ( 1983 to 2000 ), and so many more. You'll also find very obscure cases, a lot of cases most people might know nothing about: The "College Kidnappers", an underground kidnapping gang; "The Disappeared", a term coined in Argentina for those who vanished and presumably died at the hands of the military junta; the abduction of French nuns Alicia Domon and Rene Duquet in 1977, and so many more. You'll also find cases of unidentified Serial killers like: "Jack the Butcher", a child abductor who first struck in 1998; the "Satanic Rapist", a man who abducted a woman in 1987 but was never caught, and more. The list of cases discussed in this book is impressive, I've discovered many cases while reading this Encyclopedia, again Michael Newton did a very good job.
I highly recommend this Encyclopedia to anybody having an interest in Criminology, True crimes or real life mysteries. This book will be a great addition to your library, you won't regret it. :)
