I was looking for something to prepare me for the NBPTS exam and purchased this flash card set. It is really hefty- meaning...it's a lot to get through. The information is very good but maybe overwhelming and is very theoretical and only covers a quarter of what the testing schedule states. These cards are really focused on you as a professional in a community and key terminology rather than strategy in the classroom. I would probably focus on most of the textbooks that you used during your pedagogy preparation courses and of course the information and knowledge you've acquired through your career. Some great books I recommend to help brush up are: Yardsticks by Chip Wood (goes over the mental/cognitive stages of children ages 4-14 and how it looks in the classroom...super helpful for knowing your students)6+1 Traits of Writing by Ruth Culham, Literacy for the 21st Century by Gail E. Tompkin, Teaching for Comprehension in Reading K-2 by Pinell and Scharer, even Patricia Cunningham and Marie Clay books.Don't get me wrong, I'll probably get through these, during those very ambitious summer mornings, but if you're getting ready to prepare for the exam, this might take up a great deal of time.
